Kardashian 'invasion' in the Hamptons 'a concern'

Hamptons residents up in arms over Kardashian 'invasion' to film Kourtney and Khloe take the Hamptons
The residents of the Hamptons on Long Island are bracing themselves for the arrival of reality television stars the Kardashians.

According to reports, sisters Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian are searching for a mansion in the resort to rent for the summer.

The pair, who are said to be filming their latest show Kourtney and Khloe take the Hamptons, also want to find a store to expand their chain of boutiques
.

But this is proving too much for the residents of the resort more associated with old money and corporate wealth.

The prospect of the sisters, their entourage and the army of paparazzi who follow their every move, has filled the locals in the millionaires’ playground with dread.

Mark Epley, the mayor of Southampton village - one possible location for the Kardashians summer sojourn - said: “I just hear rumours like everyone else and . . . we have had some reaction from some residents.

“The village is a fairly quiet one, and I think there is some concern.”

As yet no filming applications have been filed, Mr Epley added.

“They would have to follow all the guidelines. We can control the day, time and place.“The issue for us has always been safety and quality of life.” Filming is not allowed on the beaches, according to the Southampton village website.

The New York Post says there is mounting hostility to their impending arrival. “They have been looking at property on Little Plains Road in Southampton, and already the neighbours are up in arms about it,” one resident is quoted as saying.

“They don’t want the hassle of the entourage, the cameras, the paparazzi and all the fanfare that comes with this attention-seeking family.” The reaction on social media has been equally unenthusiastic.

“Kourtney Kardashian and her sister Khloe aren’t welcome in the Hamptons,” tweeted one resident.

Jackie Meares added: “Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian are taking the hamptons - correction: they are taking the class out of Long Island.”
